NORTH EAST COORDINATION CENTRE (NECC)
In
view of the overwhelming request from the NGOs of the north
eastern states including Sikkim, the Media Management Group
for Literacy and Development, has now decided, in principle,
to start a coordinating apparatus in New Delhi, to coordinate
the status of the development projects submitted by NGOs
from NE to the Central Ministries as well as other funding
organisations.
The
coordinating unit, to be manned by appointed professionals,
will be run as a Centre and it has been named the North
East Coordination Centre (NECC). The proposed centre will
be run with necessary yearly contribution from the member
NGOs from the NE and amount of such contribution will be
decided on the basis of number of NGOs joining the network.
The Member NGOs will get the following benefits :
1. Coordination
and quick information on the status of projects submitted
to Central ministries/Funding Organisations.
2. Details of Central Govt schemes of all ministries.
3. Details of Other National and International
Funding Organisations in New Delhi/India
4. Networking with other NGOs
in India/abroad for collaborative projects.
The
aim of the proposed coordination apparatus is to help
quick coordination of the status of submitted proposals
and not
to influence approval of the same or resolution of other
on going disputes concerning matters other than projects
proposals. Initially, the NECC is setup for a period
of one year.
